  • This story creates a view of Leah as strong and capable, as well as loving and kind … and wronged by her conniving father, spoiled sister, and husband. She’s not just a blurb i. the Bible, now she’s real: she hurts, she cries, she gets angry, she laughs. She’s someone to be proud of. She and her family are fleshed out and brought to life. Whenever I read the scripture and the story of Leah and Rachel in the future, I’ll think of this rendition of Leah. I highly recommend this book.

    This book put a completely different light on the story of Jacob, Leah & Rachel than I had imagined. It made me think about what Leah probably went through & how she may have felt. It’s an excellent read & will keep you turning the page while chores wait! I truly enjoyed it.

  • I could hardly put this book down! I loved how it shined new light on this well-known Bible story. Leah’s character was amazing, with a depth of strength and faith, and the author portrays her with interests that move beyond capturing her husband’s love, depicting her as a midwife and healer.

    The story refuses to gloss over the heartbreak and the flaws of these famous figures, at times bringing me to tears. Yet, as we struggle with Leah, there is love and hope and an eye on the future, a whisper of the place she will hold in Jesus’ lineage.

  • In The Struggle for Courage: In the Days of Jezebel, author Marilyn T. Parker has written a beautiful story about those innocently caught in Jezebel’s crosshairs and the depth of love and sacrifice they encounter as faithful followers of Yahweh. Such a beautiful love story with an ending that left me with goofy happy tears. One of the best books I’ve read in a long, long time, and I truly hope there are more to come from this gifted storyteller!

It brought to light that hospitality is not the daunting and unrealistic task of a picture-perfect family with an immaculate house, perfect decor, and a seven-course meal, but instead is simply sharing what you have and who you are with those God loves. The book covers numerous aspects of hospitality with candid humor, and some very relatable moments that caused me to see myself and other’s in a new light.
